However rare, dam breach occurrences are recently reported and associated with significant damage to life property. The rupture of the structural wall generates severe flow rates that exceed spillway capacity consequently generating unprecedented flooding scenarios. present research aims assess influence statistical configuration on most relevant parameters predict maximum discharge (RMD). McBreach© software was used provide necessary inputs for operation HEC-RAS module. automates process batch mode simulations providing a Monte Carlo approach characterize stochastically. Thus, sensitivity analysis performed identify influential parameters, followed by an uncertainty assessment regarding their definition resultant RMD. Analysis showed overtopping failure discharges sensitive formation time (tf) parameter, final height (Inv) width (B), which combined responsible 85% rupture’s discharge. Further results indicated highly variable RMD magnitudes (up 300%) depending parameter’s (i.e., probability density function parameters). latter significantly impacts estimated flood risk breach, zone delimitation, preparation emergency action plans (EAP) scaling future projects.
